It’s not easy to be an intern in Television Industry if you are NOT a broadcasting or kind of- student. We are expected to study hard and learn journalism while enjoying each process in the short time! Never give up, keep happy and be positive! Follow your heart and accept the complaints from your “non-supportive” friends as an additional short review for your betterment only! You choose your happiness, not them :)

X: What’s your major?

Me: Biology Engineering (to make it easier for them to understand, sometimes I used “Chemical Engineering”)

X: You must have a relative here so you could be accepted 

[JUST KIDDING]

So, just two days after the submission I did not check all my email accounts, carelessly. I submitted the application package via google mail, however, HRD team has tried to contact me via Hotmail. Yup, yeah, I was called for an interview and IQ Test. And I, without too much consideration, decide to skip two classes for this. My friends must think I was insane and underestimated the course, the typical course for an engineering student, which is my real identity. HAHA

The interview as I mentioned, were IQ Test, which was simpler than I thought. Everyone could answer it, it was just asking you how to react to something- kind of questions. After that, an interviewer asked general questions and some questions based on your resume. So, make sure you understand what you wrote there. There were also some questions about the position you chose. Every candidate was asked to various type of questions. Others were offered a case study.

Am not so sure, it may be two/three days after the interview, I received a congratulatory text from HRD. The following day, I came to the office (The East) to meet my user (Kak Fuad, NET5 Production Assistant) who was going to be my mentor or someone whom I worked with/for (?) HAHAHA On that day, he also introduced me some of the job descriptions as PA. I also signed the contract which I decided to work start from mid-April until mid-June.

[I AM CRAZY]

I just realized that I am totally insane! HAHAHA I challenged myself to do an internship in night-shift for around 8 hours for 4 days a week in A CRAZY SEMESTER. I had no ideas how hard it was to be an engineering student in your 3rd year, how much tasks you should complete and so on and so forth. But hey, I always know I can make it  without any worries, I began to be a “worker” and a student at the same time 

I could conclude I found a different person after finishing my exchange. Right now, all I want to face is something new and challenging. I will not just enjoy a -standard- day as a university student. So, the only real reason I applied for an internship is to have myself challenged again :)

[I AM A PA]

Here are some job descriptions of a production assistant:

  • Following the working flow as PA in NET5

  • Ingesting and restoring the list news in library

  • Preparing the script for dubber/ Voice Over and editor

  • Accessing ENPS, REUTERS, APTN

  • Attending the evaluation: discussing the show and content

  • Practicing to dub/ Doing the Voice Over

  • Providing the host with Ipad for ON AIR (Control Room)

  • Signing the script and giving the code for dubbing and editing

  • Preparing the home picking-up request for crews

  • Making the credit title

  • Making the evaluation page

  • And others

A shuttle car was set to pick me in front of my kost (kind of boarding house) in “pedalaman kutek”, how strong and patient the driver was <3 After 30 minutes, I arrived at the office and started to work from around 12 p.m. till around 7 a.m. I should get back to Depok by myself every morning and faced the “busy-traffic jam-sensation of Jakarta”, thanks to NET. My morning classes will start around 9 or 10. So I had like a half hour to one and a half hour to sleep. Alhamdulillah.

[I AM A (REPORTER)]

Besides working in the office at night shift, as an intern, NET. offered me a chance to work with the reporter/video journalist too. I would say just help since mostly PA and Reporter are two different jobs. Nevertheless, I honestly happily would say I learned a lot from 5 days traveling around Jakarta as NET. Media Team 

There are two types of news, which were known as Hard News and Soft News. Simply, hard news is about politics, war, economics, and crime, while arts, entertainment, and lifestyles are considered as soft news. Luckily, I have been in the struggle of finding both news. I visited an elementary school, KidZania (my dream to visit that finally accomplished <3) and went around Kota Tua, Department of Culture in Jakarta, and some other places for preparing soft news which was about Children Activity in Ramadhan and Cultural Heritage in Jakarta. And, guess what? I met La Nyalla in person HAHAHA For hard news, I came to Office of National Attorney General.

Both experiences were different; I was warmly welcomed as VIP Media Partner to compose soft news and felt the warmth of waiting for the hard news  but that’s life! I was more than grateful for both chances. I met seniors who were very kind, helpful, and cool <3 I could not thank them more for guiding me!

I learned more than I could expect to. I then put more attention toward many kinds of issues and willing to know more about those. I felt very lucky.

[THANK YOU]

I highly appreciate all of NET. Family! All PA, producers, dubbers, reporters, editors, campers, hosts, MUA team, HRD staffs, security team, drivers, other interns, and all and all  I could not mention everyone! May Allah bless all of you! May we meet again soon! Thank you for being such a great teacher for me, everyone there!

[NET 3.0]

Hey, I even got a bonus! Yes, for me to work as a committee in NET 3.0 (Birthday Celebration) was the best event I have ever contributed at HAHA I could help and received even more help from NET. to improve my skills, experiences, and friendship! And-and-and for sure, a great thank for letting me watch the concert of Jessie J, Omi and Dawin, Raisa, Rizky Febian, Yura, Isyana, and other Indonesian stars. Where else I could see them in person, huh? <3

It would never be enough to tell a story thru Tumblr. I personally love talking! So when we meet, please talk to me and I will tell you more details! HAHA

Your life must be challenged before it is called so.
